GUIDE PRICE: Kitchen £22k+
The home owners were keen to extend their property to make room both for a new family kitchen and a dining space that would be large enough for their prized possession of a huge live-edge dining table, shipped back when they returned from living abroad. The warm wood tones of the table were picked up in the feature parquet flooring and again in the open shelving either side of the extractor, ideal for keeping display items. As the owner is a keen cook, it had to be gas for the hob and electric for the double ovens, with a Belfast sink for plenty of washing up space. The main run was painted in a neutral soft grey with the island painted in a rich deep blue for added drama, the colour then picked up in the tiled splashback and pots on the shelving. By converting an understairs cupboard in the original kitchen area into a walk-in pantry, foodstuff and small appliances and crockery could be stored keeping the kitchen worksurfaces uncluttered. High quality nickel handles from British brand Armac Martin are paired with a matching Perrin and Rowe tap. The kitchen was designed using the Chalkhouse Studio range of kitchen furniture, an off the shelf option available in standard sizes and a limited colour palette, that still has the same high quality as the Chalkhouse Bespoke range but at a lower price point.
